Birthday Potluck

This month we hosted our play group's monthly potluck. As it is the time of year when all of us will be having birthdays, we are trying to cut back on the number of parties we will be going to by celebrating all of our birthdays together! We had the potluck at our house. Fiona even got to play with baby Nora!

Mommy made every child's favorite flavor cupcake. She also made everyone's favorite color frosting. Each child also got a chocolate letter for their name and a chocolate 6. Then we decorated our cupcakes.

I had a quick test of the frosting to make sure it tasted right.
Here is my completed cupcake with my candle all ready to sing.
Mommy and Fiona sang with everyone else.
I thought that the singing was a little loud.
Mommy and I stuffed a big 6 pinata.
I put on my cowboy boots to go out back and hit the pinata.
Before we got to hit it, Mommy made all the soon to be six year old sit on the stairs for a group picture. Just the big kids this time.

Fiona hung out with Joey's grandpa while the pinata was set up.
We all waited in line. We went by birth order, though Daddy let me go first since it was my house.

Fiona was not impressed by the pinata.
Here I am taking my first whack.
We each got to hit the pinata three times.
It broke before everyone got a turn. Here is all the loot on the ground before we ran for it. Everyone was super nice and shared with the little sisters and brothers.
Afterwards, everyone got to take home a set of balloons to remember the celebration. It was a great way to share our birthdays. Here is a picture of Fiona trying her first corn on the cob at the potluck.

With so many sixers, maybe one shot per would have been better for the first round. Who actually broke it, and what number was his turn? Looks like you had a very fun birthday!

Emma broke it and she was the 7th person. Only two soon to be six year olds didn't get a turn.
