Fishing in Mexico

One afternoon, Daddy and Mommy took me out fishing on a little boat. We were out for several hours and I did not get seasick or want to go back. Daddy caught a barracuda and a Mahi Mahi. They were really big! Afterwards we took our Mahi to the little restaurant near our hotel and they grilled it up for us, yum!

Old Stuff

One day, Daddy drove us to Coba to see "old stuff." We saw some really old pyramids that Daddy said got built by hand a long long time ago. I liked the tunnel and climbing the smaller buildings. The tallest pyramid is in Coba and you can climb to the top. Mommy and I got about halfway up before we went back to the bottom to wait for Daddy. Then we got to ride a bicycle taxi back to the entrance to the ruins. We saw a big iguana there. When Daddy asked me if I wanted to go see more old stuff, I said no. Not the highlight of my trip!
These two pictures are the view from the top of the big pyramid. Daddy took them while he was up at the top.

Here are the pictures of Daddy way up at the top.

More Mexico

We did a whole lot of snorkeling while we were in Mexico and we found lots of interesting fish and corals. Sometimes I went in on my kickboard and other times, just with my floatie and I rode around on Mommy or Daddy. By the end, I didn't want Mommy, Daddy or my floatie because I thought I was such a big girl and a good swimmer. Daddy wants to bring me back every month because I loved the water so much.

Mexico Part 2

I am liking it here in Mexico. I have been "diving" with Mommy and Daddy several times. We have seen many beautiful fish, but the big excitement is the turtles. We are staying in a turtle nesting sanctuary. Our beach has many marked turtle nests. Two mornings during our stay there were new nests on the beach in the morning. And we have seen lots of turtles in the water.

This is the view from the patio of our condo onto the beach. I am coloring with Daddy.

Here is the view from the water of our condo. Its on the bottom floor. I could walk right out to the beach!

These are the three turtle nests that were in front of our condo when we arrived.

Here is a fresh turtle nest that we found one morning.

Here is one of the many turtles we saw swimming around.

First Days in Mexico

On Monday morning, Mommy and Daddy woke me up super early to head to the airport. We took two plane rides and then a long car ride and we arrived at our hotel in Mexico. We are staying in Akumal which is a south of Cancun and a little north of Tulume. On our second day, I dressed myself and had the cereal that mom and dad bought for the trip a while ago (those little boxes). Once I did that, I dressed myself for the beach in orange sweats and the fun orange top that Grammy made me. Mommy added a hat and I was out the door.

I was a little hesitant at first, but once I put on my bathing suit, Daddy got me in the water. We swam for a while but I was a little nervous in the waves. I played in the sand some, but I didn't have any toys yet. We drove back to Playa del Carmen and went to Walmart :) and got snacks and toys and a boogie board. When we came back I tried out the board with Daddy. Earlier in the day, I hadn't wanted to put my face in the water, even with my orange mask on, but with the board, I was fearless. I went in twice that afternoon and saw tons of fishies in the water.

Last night, we took a walk on the beach. We found lots of little sand crabs. I thought it was funny when Mommy would chase them so I did too. I couldn't catch any myself, but I did hold a few that Mommy caught. Then, later, we found a hermit crab walking along the beach right in front of our patio. We but it in my sifter, but it really wanted out so we let it go.

This morning, I have already gone out in the water once, built a sand castle and made lots of other fun sand things. I think I am going to like it here.

Joey's Birthday

Today is my friend Joey's birthday. We went over to his house to celebrate. He got some cool balloons for his birthday and we played with them lots until they popped. That was a little scary!

Here is a picture of the card I made for Joey. I wrote his name myself. Its backwards, but I did this completely on my own. The J is in the top right corner. Then there is an O next to it, then the E and then the Y is a little lower on the page in orange. Then I turned the paper over and made an L in green on the other side for my name. Mommy was pretty impressed with me.
