Party time

Lily had her birthday party at Head Over Heels again this year. Here are the girls chilling with Grandpa while we wait for the party to start.

It was a fun day and everyone had lots of fun. Happy 7 my baby girl!

The day began with presents. Lily decided to open just two in the morning and save the rest for later. She chose two.

 The first one was a chess game. She has begun chess classes at school.

 Fiona helped :)

 The second was a new gymnastics leotard.

 On the way to school we stopped off for a hot cocoa. The guys at the coffee shop made it a little special for the birthday girl.

 I brought her a Gordo's lunch at school before doing a project in class with her classmates.

 Then we celebrated with the class by having yummy lemon cupcakes and they got to play a fun game!

At pick up time, I got there a little early and watched the science class make Ooblek.

When we got home it was time to open the rest of the presents.

 More new earrings!

 A pair of shoes too.

 Fiona had to try them on too.

 Then she had a little meltdown when she couldn't keep them.

 Time for the birthday girl to try them on.

 Then we opened Grandma Donna's present which included a jumprope!

 It also included a new dress.

 Then we got dressed up to head off to dinner.

 Fiona got all dolled up too.

 We headed into downtown and had dinner in the cafe at Chez Panisse.

 Yummy soup and salad to start.

 I worked on the cake for the party all day off and on. Here it is after its first coat of frosting.

 And this is the finished result. Looked more like a bow than a butterfly though.
