Rope Swing

This my last class in this round of gymnastics. I got to try something new and my coach helped  me swing on the big rope. I did a great job!

The Park

Today I went to the park with my friend Joey. We met up with some of Joey's friends and our friend Connor. This park has a fun ram to ride and Joey and I rode it together.

They also have some low monkey bars that I can learn on. I have gotten to the point where I can swing myself along by using my feet to walk me along.

Camping

Daddy took Mommy and I on our first camping trip last weekend. We went up to the Reef Campground on the Sonoma Coast. After a long drive, we arrived at the campground and drove around to look for a good site. We found the best one! Very private, closest to the beach and trails and near the bathrooms :)
I napped in the tent while Mommy and Daddy set everything up and then we went to the "beach" to watch Daddy dive for abalone. This beach had no sand, only rocks, so it wasn't a lot of fun. I pulled up my pant legs to try out the water, but it was too cold!
Here's Daddy coming in from his first dive. He got his abalone, but broke his spear gun so he didn't get to fish for the rest of the trip.

After diving, I wanted to take my new Tinkerbell fishing pole for a spin. Daddy carried it down to the beach for me.

We didn't catch much besides kelp so we went back to camp and had dinner. I chose our first meal so we had grilled cheese and tomato soup. Then we sat by the fire, made some smores and read some stories.

The next day we started the day with a hike on the bluffs above the ocean.

We found some butterflies and watched the boats and the divers in the water. We walked over above the Fort Ross beach to see if there is a sandy beach for me to play on.

There were a lot of fun bridges to cross and I really liked the one with the railings.

Then we went down to the rocky beach since it was low tide. We went looking through the tide pools. We found sea stars, anemones, tons of hermit crabs and some fishies. Mommy found a baby sea star for me to hold.

After my nap we went over to the beach at Ft. Ross for Daddy to dive and for me to have some sand to play in. I took off my pants so I could go down to the water. I was worried about my shirt and panties getting wet too so I had to try to hold them up.
I helped Daddy get his boots on for his next dive.

When Daddy came back, he convinced me that I should touch and then hold the abalone he got.

When we got back from the beach, my friend Joey was waiting at our campground. They stayed to play and Joey and Nolan and I had tons of fun playing in the campground and in Joey's minivan. When they left later, Big Joe turned on the car and the windshield wipers were going and the blinkers were all on!

After grilled steaks and corn, we settled into some marshmallow toasting.

It was Nolan's first birthday so after that we sang to him and had some cake. When they left, I wanted to go home too. Mommy and Daddy convinced me we should stay the night.

The next morning we did another quick hike, broke down camp and then Daddy did his last dive for three abalone and we hit the road. I say that I enjoyed camping. We'll see if I am willing to do it again. Daddy's going to have to work hard to convince Mommy though :)

Gymnastics

This week at gymnastics Coach Slater had us do something we haven't done before. We had to walk across a balance beam that was over the foam pit. After that, he had us walk to the middle of the beam, lean over and grab a rail and then drop into the foam pit. This is the first time I have done that drop from anything without my coach holding on to me. Mommy was really proud of me!

Climbing

There is a weird ladder at the park that I always try to climb, but I get scared half way across when I have to turn around to go down. Yesterday I figured out how to do it without help so today we went on our nightly walk and when we stopped at the park, I showed Daddy. I kind of forgot that I was supposed to turn myself, but I did not want any help!

Swimming

Today I went swimming again with Joey. We had lots of fun together. Mommy just lets me play around and do whatever I want. I really have been learning some things on my own just experimenting in the water. Today I showed Mommy how I can get into a back float on my own and I can count how long I can stay there. I also started kicking on my back. I do use the wall a bit to steady myself.

Fishing Pole

We are preparing for our camping trip this weekend. My last fishing pole broke so I got a new one today, a Tinkerbell one. I decided I wanted to try it out tonight. It came with a little green rubber fish. I liked trying to chase it while Daddy reeled it in. Then I made Daddy try it!

The Big Slide

We had our weekly play date at Cordinices Park on Monday. They have a very long concrete slide there that I have been fascinated by for a while. I couldn't convinve Mommy to go with me, but my friend Dalia's Mommy, Lauren, took me down for the first time.

Just before it was time to go, I decided I wanted to try it out on my own. What followed was about 30 minutes of crying and almost going and then not. Mommy sat at the bottom to catch me with her video camera at the ready. Finally another little boy and his daddy were wanting to go so Mommy said time was up and I needed to walk back down so we could go. She turned off the camera and stood up so the other boy could go and suddenly I plopped myself down on my tummy and went. Mommy had a hard time catching me because she didn't expect me to go.
After the little boy went, I decided I would go again on my own so Mommy could get it on video, but again I went up to the top and cried and changed my mind so we went home. Here is one of the about 20 videos Mommy took of me at the top not going down.

Swimming

Yesterday we drove to my friend Emma's grandma's house in Davis where it is summertime. We went swimming and played together all day. We had matching zebra swim rings and swam around in them with our Daddies. I went off the diving board too!
