Lily got this toy from Grandpa for a birthday or Christmas and it makes its way out every once in a while. Lily was enjoying playing and Fiona loved the music.

Fiona is starting to learn her body parts :)

Lily was doing cartwheels with her friend Sophia at gymnastics the other day. The premise is that the gray line is like a balance beam so they are trying to keep their hands and feet on it. Lily is getting pretty good, though as I said to Sofia's grandpa, they would both be on the ground if they were on a real beam!

Lily is also getting really good at her back bends and was practicing them while her coach was helping others with theirs.

Fiona can't wait until December when she can join in the gymnastics fun!

A Visit from The Schultz Family

Last Friday we had a fun visit from Uncle Louis, Aunt Karrie, and cousins John, Riley and Colin. We went up to Little Farm and met them for some fun with the animals. Daddy came home from work early and we all went up to the Lawrence Hall of Science for some fun.

 After play time, we headed out front where we got one quick picture of all the kids on the whale. Colin was not fond of this idea so this is the only picture we got.

 We then headed over to the DNA sculpture for a picture of the brothers and their kids. 

 This was the one where most of the people in the picture are looking at the camera :)

We headed down to a pizza place and had some dinner before the cousins headed on their way to their hotel in San Francisco

Academy of Sciences

On the last Sunday of July, we decided to use our Academy of Sciences membership for the last time before it expired. We began our morning with a walk for the dog. Fiona likes to be in charge of him, just as Lily did at this age. She gets his leash a lot. She also holds her finger up and tells him to sit in her own language just like she sees us do. Unfortunately, every time I get out the video camera to capture this cuteness, she refuses to do it again.

When we first got inside, we learned that it was Cat in the Hat weekend at the Academy. Lily had her picture taken with him and then we did a little scavenger hunt to earn a Cat in the Hat book.

 Our next stop was looking down into the water of one of the aquariums and noticing that you could see down to a viewing spot under the water. We realized it was the children's eel garden so Lily and I went down while Daddy and Fi stayed up. This is a picture of the two of them from inside the eel garden.

After that we went downstairs to look at the fish tanks and have a snack.

We ended our visit with a trip into the rainforest dome and the butterflies. It was a nice day at the museum.

Sofia's birthday

After the fourth of July we went to Pump It Up to help Sofia celebrate her 6th birthday. Fiona had some fun in the bouncy houses and playing with balls.

 The second room had a huge bouncy slide that was enjoyed by children and adults alike.

Daddy took both girls on a fun ride!

Afterwards we shared pizza, milk and juice with friends.

 Then it was time for birthday girl cupcakes!

It was a fun experience and we were happy to help Sofia celebrate her birthday!

July Fun

Here are Fiona and Lily playing in a little cubby on our visit to the library to get started on the summer reading program.

 Lily got to use a gift certificate from her birthday to get her nails done before we went to see So You Think You Can Dance.

 Lily had a sleepover with Emma and we went up to the Cheeseboard for dinner. Here is Fiona enjoying the peach and blue cheese pizza.

Fiona really loves the slide right now. Here is one of her early attempts. She still had some trouble moving from the crawl to the sit.

 Lily went to see The Cat in the Hat at Fairyland.

 She is also taking a potions class at Lawrence Hall of Science. This was her SLG (solid, liquid, gas) potion from the first day.
