Lily and Fiona: April 2013

Grammy came for a visit this weekend. On Friday she took Lily to school and picked her up. We went to ballet and had dinner with friends afterwards. Saturday morning we got started early with a trip to the Farmers' Market in San Francisco. Lily pushed Fiona in her stroller. We had breakfast and bought some fruits and vegetables.

Then we went home and changed for our trip to see the play Knuffle Bunny. Grammy buys the tickets every year so we took her with us. Here is Lily during intermission when Knuffle Bunny was lost in the washer.

Afterwards she got to have her picture taken with a huge Knnuffle Bunny.

Later that afternoon, Lily got up on the roof with Daddy to help him string his hops.

Sunday we got to go shopping with Grammy before she had lunch and went home. It was a great visit.

For Mommy's birthday, we decided to take a trip the Mendocino coast for the weekend. We got in the car Friday morning and headed out. We stopped at the Anderson Valley Brewing Company and Daddy took pictures of me and Fiona in front of the big bear in the tasting room.

After some lunch, we met up with my friend Melina who happened to be staying with her cousin in Mendocino the same weekend. She owns horses so we decided to go riding.

First we had to clean up Sam as he had been rolling in the mud earlier in the day. We all got a chance to brush him.

Fiona watched from Daddy's chest.

I decided I wanted to ride with Melina for my first time up on Sam. She'd ridden him earlier in the morning so she felt confident.

After that I felt braver and took a turn on my own. Melina and her friend Julia helped lead the horse.

Afterwards, the Mommies and Daddies said that we had to help with the other horse chores. We all took turns cleaning up the horse stalls and scooping poop into the wheelbarrow. We also got to set out the hay for the horses.

Fiona was underwhelmed by the experience and decided to take a nap.

We then said goodbye to Melina and went to our hotel. We had great access to the beach and headed down right away. Fiona seemed to like the ocean and the beach from Daddy's arms.

I immediately ran down to the water. Mommy and Daddy told me to be careful and not get wet and dirty, but a wave sneaked up on me and I got soaked. I cried a lot at first, but then got over it and played.

Fiona had some time down on the sand. She wasn't too sure about the experience.

The next morning was a little gray out. We started our morning with a walk.

We went over the bridge and walked into town for coffee.

Then we met up with Melina again. We had some snacks and Daddy and I went birthday shopping for Mommy. Then we all took a walk on the bluffs by the ocean. I found a puddle shaped like a heart :)

We spent the afternoon playing on the beach and in the water. Fiona really got into the sand and got super dirty. Then we walked into town for some shopping and dinner. Mommy bought me a belly dancing scarf.

Fiona had a blast crawling around in the hotel. In this picture, she had taken her socks off and was crawling around with them as fast as she could go with a big, proud smile on her face.

The next morning we got up and went for a long walk on the bluffs by our hotel. The water views were really amazing.

Daddy and I walked out onto a cliff for a picture.

At the end of our walk, I found a snail on the ground.

I picked it up and we tried to get Fi to touch it.

She had enjoyed touching the sea anemones the previous day and she liked touching the snail too.

On the walk back to the hotel, we posed with Daddy on the bridge.

Then we hopped in the car and headed out. We stopped for some breakfast and quick beach tour and then drove to Petaluma for lunch. I was pretty tired and grouchy when we got there and wouldn't smile for Daddy.
