The Wall

Daddy took spring break off so that we could take a little vacation. Unfortunately, two things conspired to keep us at home. First is that fact that Mommy is pregnant and traveling was not on the top of her list. Second was the fact that the retaining wall in the side yard fell down when it was raining in March. We used our vacation money to buy the materials for a new wall :(

Here is a picture of the broken wall.

This is what it looked like after Daddy (with some help from Bjorn) removed the old wall and dug out the trench for the new one.
I "helped" with the delivery of the materials. This is the load of base rock they dumped in front.
Mommy liked that I was holding on to Daddy the whole time.

Here is Daddy with all the rock, gravel and blocks that we had delivered. He carried all of that up the hill!
Here is the trench with the base layer of blocks laid. It took a long time since Daddy wanted to make sure the wall was level, unlike the one that broke!

Then on Saturday, Bjorn came over again and he and Daddy got the rest of the wall built pretty quickly. All that's left to do now is finish filling in the dirt behind the wall and put on the last layers of rock.
Daddy and Bjorn take some much needed rest on the new wall.

Good job Daddy! We can't wait to be able to use the yard again once the wall is all the way completed!
