Our family had some photos taken at the beach by photographer Jamey Thomas. He donated the photo shoot to the school auction and we bought it. He took some beautiful photos of the girls!

Cake Decorating
Our beloved babysitter Janelle has decided to grow up :( She graduated from her grad program and got married this summer. We had one last date night and decided to throw her a mini shower. We asked Marcia and Paul if they could make her a mini wedding cake and they did us one better by allowing Lily to come in and decorate one herself. Here she is with Paul and the basic white cake. He taught her how to pipe a border around the edges of the tiers.
He is monitoring her work :)
Fi got a treat and some cocoa while Lily decorated.
After cutting and molding some leaves and adding some flowers, Lily got to put on pretty bluish purple decorations.
Here was the final version of the cake. Lily did most of the work with Paul adding some of the vine design and helping adhere things to the cake where she wanted them.
A work of art!
Congratulations Janelle and Brian. We will miss you!
Fourth of July
Fourth of July weekend began on the third with Fiona helping me to make some food to take with us to our friend's "summer house" in Davis.
Later that afternoon we picked Maya up from preschool so she could play with Shadow and us for a while.
The next morning we got in the car and headed to the warm weather. We spent a lot of time floating and playing in the pool!
Lily worked on learning to flip off the diving board.
Here she is in action!
Fiona enjoyed hanging out and playing with toys.
The girls all got in a lot of swimming practice without realizing it!
Bjorn was watching a lot of soccer and Fiona decided to join him and snack.
After dinner we got all dressed up in our patriotic gear including little headbands that I made for all the girls.
We took a long and crazy bike ride to the high school. It included Daddy on a trail a bike with Emma, Lily and Maya riding in the bike trailer pulled by Bjorn and Fiona in the bike seat behind Mommy. Earlier in the day several bike tires had popped from the heat, but all were working when we left. About half way there, Anna's tire went flat and all attempts to re inflate and fix failed. We chained it up and she rode the rest of the way between Bjorn and the bike trailer. Very uncomfortable!
We found a great spot to spread the blanket for fireworks viewing. The daddies got some beer and the big girls played in the sand before we settled down to watch the show.
Fiona was not a big fan and stayed cuddled in to Mommy or Daddy for the whole show. She is not big on loud noises!
After the bike ride home (3 kids in the trailer and Anna riding the kid part of the trail a bike with James) we went to sleep. The next day was much of the same with a trip to the park added in. Lots of time in the pool and a trip to downtown for burgers, beer and cupcakes.
It was a fun fourth and we enjoyed spending it with our friends!

Fi's Birthday Party
Fiona had a Very Hungry Caterpillar birthday party. We made a cupcake caterpillar cake.
Grammy helped label all the caterpillar's favorite foods for the party. We discovered that the caterpillar likes sweets, but doesn't eat a lot of veggies!
The party included plenty of time with bubbles.
There was also a lot of time spent swinging.
More bubbles with the bubble machine this time.
Time to eat!
Cake time.
Fiona was waiting patiently for us to get the candles lit.
Here she is while we are singing to her.
Fiona decided that she wanted to eat the caterpillar's eyes :)
She actually tried her cake this year!
Sweet little two year old!
The next morning we had breakfast with Grammy and Grandpa. The girls cuddled some while waiting for breakfast.
Grandpa gave them shirts with their name and age on them in sparkles.
It was a great birthday weekend.
