The Beach

Its been so warm lately and it was supposed to be in the 80's today, so we decided to head to the beach. We should have looked at the bridge as we got on the freeway, but we didn't and we ended up at a fogged in and windy beach. We hung out for a little while. The girls found some small rocks so we sat down near them for some sand play.

Lily got brave and took off her clothes and said she was going to go swimming, but she never even made it down to the water's edge.

Fiona was having fun playing with the rocks and the sand.
Daddy created a little rock circle around her.

 Lily relaxed in the sand.

 My beautiful beach girl.
And my other beautiful beach baby.
 Goofy grin :)
Fiona thought it was funny to lay down in the sand.
Then she would roll over and try to put sand on top of herself. She wasn't too fond of getting it in her face though.
Lily got trapped by the Daddy monster.

Fiona put on Lily's hat and then couldn't see where she was going and fell down.
After we left the beach, we came home and Fiona had a bath to remove some ill placed sand. I put her in the new shoes we got that morning and one of the skirts Lily used to wear. She looked pretty cute.
Lily then decided she would put on a pretty skirt too.
I'm one lucky Mommy to have two cuties like this!

Tennis at the park

Lily really wanted to play tennis so we went to the tennis courts one morning. Fiona had fun playing with the ball container and cap and one of the balls. Lily and Daddy hit balls against the wall for a while.

Then we walked through the tunnel and over to the park to play on the slides.

Labor Day

We were invited to a friend's house for a BBQ on Labor Day. We got to play with all our favorite friends.
Here is Fiona snacking on green beans.
 Lovely Lily posing for me.
Now Fiona is snacking on chips and the bowl of salsa she knocked on the ground.
Never happier than when she has a baby doll to play with.
Eating at a table with Maya hanging out with her.
 Corn, yum!
Time for Dermott to join for some dinner too.
Play time in the sand box out back.

Fiona decided to play with a chair instead.

Story time with master story teller Ron (whose own children did not join in to listen!)

Sleepy Fiona

One day last weekend, Fiona refused to have a real nap and by the time we sat down to an early dinner, she was pretty sleepy.

Daredevil Fiona

Lily never did this kind of stuff!

Then when Lily decides to join the fun, it becomes even more exciting.

First day of first grade

Lily started first grade last week. It was the same day as my kids started, so I had to miss out on the drop off. Daddy took pictures of Lily all ready to go to school.

This year's what I want to be when I grow up was very similar to last year at the start of kinder. She wants to be a ballerina and a dancer. Last year it was a ballerina and a gymnast.
Fiona got in on the action too!

Here is Lily standing on the yard where her class is supposed to meet every day at the start of school for the school pledge.
Here she is with classmates and her teacher.
This is her classroom as she is waiting to go inside.

And here she is at her desk, ready to read.
I picked her up after school and her hair was still in a bump (it was the first thing we did was to take it out) and she was still wearing her boots, but not the socks. She enjoyed her first week a lot and even got to go to the science lab where she touched snakes! Here is a shot of her on the monkey bars on her second day.
